A LITTLE GUIDANCE FROM APPLE
Start with the source.
Use Apple’s current instructions for your devices. Features and menus change with software versions, age, and region.
- Set up Family Sharing
- Create an Apple Account for your child
- Manage your child’s Screen Time
- Approve purchases with Ask to Buy
- Apple’s child safety overview
- Understand device supervision and erasure
- Apple Configurator for Mac user guide
Three things that work together
Family Sharing connects separate accounts. Screen Time provides Apple’s everyday parental controls. A restrictions profile adds supported device settings. None guarantees safety, and a profile doesn’t create your family group or automatically enable Apple’s controls.
The family setup and Screen Time references were checked on November 3, 2026. Check Apple’s guidance again when setting up or updating your devices.
